otherwise known as a zebra. the stripes on the zebra have befuddled scientists since the beginning of, well, science. some say the stripes are for zebras to camouflage themselves from the colour-blind lion. others say the stripes are to confuse the flying patterns of the tsetse fly, and yet other scientists think the unique patterns of stripes are a way for zebras to identify one another.
there is no real consensus. basically, the stripes serve no apparent purpose but continue to exist anyway.
